The Registered Dietician is responsible for completion of inpatient and outpatient nutrition referrals; community promotion of nutrition-related topics including, but not limited to, presentations to various organizations as requested and quarterly newspaper articles; performance standards, monthly kitchen inspections, policy/procedures, planning, innovation, compliance with regulatory standards, education, and communication. Must have a thorough knowledge of the organization and the operation of all units within the Nutrition Services Department; theory and practice of dietetics including physiology and digestive system of the human body; nutritional requirements of individuals of varying ages and occupations; special diet requirements in a wide range of diseases; and awareness of developments in the dietetic field. Ensures the systematic and coordinated delivery of diabetes educational services. Follows all policies and procedures as established by WGH for patient care and confidentiality. Follows safe practices for handling toxic substances, infection control, and fire and safety procedures. Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service to customers of all ages.
