On Sunday, February 23rd, the highly anticipated Ladies Day Out took over the Armory in Lawrenceville for an afternoon filled with laughter, friendship, and a touch of mystery. With doors opening at 1 PM, attendees were welcomed into a beautifully decorated space, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable day.
This event, now in its second year under my leadership as the Executive Director of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, has quickly become a local favorite. With the incredible support of Jennifer Salyers, our chamber administrator, and Ginger Shick, our dedicated committee chair, we crafted an afternoon that left everyone talking—especially those who were lucky enough to snag a ticket before we sold out!
What made this event so special? Here’s a look back at some of the fabulous features that made the day one to remember:
The Purse Auction
The theme “Don’t Judge a Purse by Its Cover” added an extra layer of excitement! Fifty purses, generously donated by local businesses, were filled with an array of surprises. Some held gourmet treats, others had gift cards, and a few contained totally unexpected treasures. The lucky bidders had the thrill of discovering what was inside their chosen bag!
Bingo, Baby!
Bingo was more than just a game—it was a full-on competition! With fantastic prizes up for grabs, the excitement was palpable. Dawn Brewer, our always-enthusiastic Lawrence County CEO facilitator, called out the numbers, keeping us all on the edge of our seats.
Delicious Bites
No event is complete without great food, and Ladies Day Out delivered. Attendees enjoyed beautifully curated charcuterie boxes from Kolb’s Culinary Creations and crowd-favorite Delta cheeseballs, prepared by Becky Shick, who also doubled as our dynamic auctioneer.
Sip & Socialize
Lasata Wines returned with their signature wine and fan-favorite wine slushies, adding a perfect touch of relaxation to the afternoon. Whether sipping a glass of wine or indulging in a frozen treat, guests had plenty to toast to!
What We Wore
The committee decided to dress in shades of purple to tie in with the event’s theme, reflected in our gorgeous purple centerpieces and the Photo Booth’s elegant backdrop. I opted for:
No matter the outfit choice, everyone showed up looking fabulous, embracing their own unique style!
This Year’s Big Change
With a larger venue at the Armory, we expanded our capacity to welcome 150 ladies—nearly doubling last year’s attendance at Lasata Wines. And while tickets sold out quickly after going on sale January 22nd, Lasata Wines still joined us to serve the beloved wines and slushies they’re known for.
Seeing this event grow and bring our community together in such a meaningful way was truly inspiring. We’re already thinking about how to make Ladies Day Out even bigger and better next year!
A Little Love from Our Chamber
This event perfectly showcased what the Lawrence County Chamber is all about—community, connection, and celebrating local businesses. To everyone who attended, we are so grateful for your support. And to those who missed out this year, mark your calendars early next time—this is one event you won’t want to miss!
A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, volunteers, and every single attendee. This event wasn’t just about purses and prizes—it was about the bonds we share as women supporting women.
